Description: Tall, densely branched with thorny tips. Bright silver, long narrow leaves. Small yellow flowers that last only a couple days. Red berries are 4mm in diameter and found in bright clusters along branches. Through winter, plantings give off a smoky grey appearance. Can be used as a security plant as it forms an impenetrable barrier. Birds love it for protection and food. Fruit is edible, high in Vitamin C, and can be used for jams and syrups. Extremely drought-tolerant for Calgary and area gardens.

Notes: Nitrogen fixer.
Requires a hot, dry, sunny site. Do not overwater.

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
