Wildflower Seed Mixes

Our hand packed wildflower mixes contain a diverse selection of authentic Alberta Wildflowers. We now have six different wildflower mixes available, please scroll down the page to learn more. Most of the wildflowers present in our mixes are listed in our Plants & Seeds section but there are a few uncommon items that are currently not available as plugs or in a seed package.

The wildflower species in our mixes vary from year to year depending on seed availability. For a list of what wildflowers are in each batch of mixes Click Here; our latest batch is 1301. If you would like more information please call or email us.

Some of the wildflower species present in the mixes will need a winter or cold stratification before the seeds will begin to germinate and germination may continue over several years. Perennials grown from seed usually begin to flower in their second year but some species may bloom in the first year. Over time some species will prosper while others may die out depending on your sites specific conditions.

Our mixes are hand packed to insure each species listed is present in each mix and a content list is included in each envelope starting with the 1301 batches. Wildflower seed can vary drastically in size and some species have very tiny seeds so it isn’t uncommon for seed companies to use some sort of filler to bulk up the contents of the package in an effort to make the customer feel better. We don't add filler to our mixes and guarantee that the amount of seed list as being in the package is the minimum amount of seed present while often there is quite a bit more. We recommend you seed the mixes out at 15-30 seeds per square foot. Seeding instructions are listed on the back of each envelope. Wildflower Mix - Prairie Meadow

Description: This mix contains seeds from native wildflowers known to do well in full sun and moist, well-drained or dry soils. You will find the highest number of Wildflower species in this mix which contains at least 500 seeds.

Wildflower Mix - Open Woodland

Description: This mix contains seeds from native wildflowers known to do well in part-shade and dry, well-drained or moist soils. This mix contains at least 350 seeds and includes many wildflower favorites like Wood Lilies and Indian Paintbrushes.

Wildflower Mix - Dry/Rocky

Description: This mix contains seeds from native wildflowers known to do well in full sun and dry rocky or gravelly soils. There are many drought tolerant sun lovers like Smooth Blue Penstemon and Dotted Blazing Star in this mix which contains at least 350 seeds.

Wildflower Mix - Moist Woodland

Description: This mix contains seeds from native wildflowers known to do well in shade to part-shade and rich moist or well-drained soils. This mix contains at least 350 seeds and has hard to find wildflower species like Pink Wintergreen and Bronze Bells which are not currently available as plugs or in individual seed packages.

Wildflower Mix - Easy Grow Wildflowers

Description: The wildflowers in this mix have been selected for their willingness to grow and flower without much fuss and bother. They require no special treatment to germinate and can be sown in late spring with good results. You will find many familiar favorites in this mix like Brown Eyed Susan and Blue Flax, each package contains at least 350 seeds.

Wildflower Mix - Edble Wildflowers

Description: This mix contains wildflowers which have edible or medicinal properties, please see the Seed Mix Contents page for a full list of species. We do not supply information on how to uses these plants beyond their use as landscape or garden plant material and fully recommend that no part of any plant should ever be consumed with out clear identification of the plant itself and a confirmed understanding of it's edible or medicinal properties. This mix contains at least 200 seeds.
