Description: Soft, dark green needles. Deeply furrowed bark on mature trees. Cones are 5-6cm with a distinctive three-pronged bract (mouse tail). City of Calgary's official tree.

Found in Nature: Montane, dry slopes. Furthest east stands are found along the Bow River along the Douglas Fir Trail.

Distribution: Seed sourced west of Calgary, near Exshaw and the top of the Porcupine hills.
