Description: Part of the Mustard family, this sweet little plant grows low to the ground all along the Rocky Mountains on rocky banks, gravelly or sandy foothills and prairies. It has silvery, spatula-shaped leaves and petite bright yellow blooms. The seed heads are airy and inflated in two halves (hence its common name) which are adorable and fuzzy, and dry up and float away in the wind.

Found in Nature: Steep banks, rocky, limey and shaley soils. In the prairies, foothills, and mountains.

Distribution: Alberta and British Columbia down into Montana, Wyoming, and beyond.

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
