Description: Tall shrub 4-5m tall that suckers to form a 3-4m wide plant, so ensure adequate room. Native species have large green leaves, small white flowers that appear before leaves in spring. Flowers give way to clusters of shiny purple fruit in the fall. Fruit is edible when used with plenty of sugar. Drought-tolerant for Calgary and area gardens.

Notes: Prefers full sun and windy conditions, as the more open the area, the healthier the plant. Less susceptible to black knot than other cultivars.

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
