Wildflower Plugs

Our plugs come in a few different sizes depending on the growing habit of the plant. Most of our plugs are 1.5"sq with a 5"deep root ball while smaller or slower growing perennials are grown in smaller plug containers. The open book style of our growing containers allows for easy handling and transplanting.

If you purchase your plugs in spring the wildflowers will be at least 1 year old. Plugs purchased in the late summer/fall delivery may be the current season crop, but either way your plugs are guaranteed to be healthy, ready for transplanting and depending on the variety may bloom if planted early spring or the previous fall.

Wildflower Seeds and Mixes

We guarantee that our wildflower seeds are collected from wildflowers growing in nature in Alberta or from young stock plants grown from these seeds. Seed is collected at peek ripeness to insure good viability rates. We pick and clean our seed by hand which significantly reduces the chances of contamination by weed seeds.

Seed Mixes are available in four different categories, Prairie Meadow, Open Woodland, Moist Woodland, & Dry/Rocky. These mixes contain plants known to do well in these general conditions. With time, depending on your specific conditions, some species may flourish while others may thin out or disappear.

	Seed Packages contain at least 50 seeds and seeding instruction are listed on the back of each package.
	Seed Mixes contain 250 to 350 seeds and will cover a 10 sq. ft. area at the recommended rate of 15 to 30 seeds per square foot. Seeding tips are included. To see a list of what is in each mix click here


Native Grass Seed
Our native grass seed comes from sources within the Prairie Provinces and is repackaged by Wild About Flowers into quantities that are more in line with the needs of the average home or acreage owner.

Plugs

To have an order shipped, a minimum order of twelve plugs is required (you can order 12 different species) and there is a $12.00 handling charge; local pick up is available.

Shipping costs include full insurance and depend on the total number of seedlings ordered & distance shipped, see chart for an estimation. Out of Province orders and orders exceeding 400 plugs please call for shipping costs.

Seeds

Seeds will be sent through the mail and is available year round. There is a handling fee of $2.50 for seed orders but there is no minimum order. If your order contains live plants and seed, the seed may be shipped ahead of the plants depending on the time of year and the $2.50 handling fee will not be applied.

Native Grasses

Grass seed is available year round and there is no minimum order. An $8.00 handling fee will apply to grass seed orders containing no live plants. Grass seed can be sent by Canada Post or Greyhound, if you do not have a preference you can select the "Most Economical" shipping option on the order page.

Handling Charges

Any order containing live plants will be charged a maximum handling fee of $12.00. If your order contains grass and wildflower seed, you will be charged a handling fee of $8.00. Orders containing only wildflower seed will be charged a handling fee of $2.50.

Pick Up Orders
Local orders can be picked-up on an arranged date at our nursery which is located 10 km south of Black Diamond or 40 minutes SW of Calgary.

Payments and Deposits
Orders to be shipped require payment in full prior to shipping. Large Custom orders and pick-up orders to be held longer than two weeks require a 25% non-refundable deposit with the balance due on or before pick-up/shipping. Payment options include Visa and Master Card, a Cheque or Money Order made out to Wild About Flowers, or online with PayPal where more payment options are available.

Product Guarantee
We guarantee that our product will arrive in good condition, that live plants will be healthy and be ready to transplant. We also guarantee that our plants are grown by us from seed collected locally and responsibly and are not harvested from the wild. Once your plants arrive please examine them and if you have any concerns please contact us immediately and we will work to rectify the situation. We cannot be responsible for anything beyond this point but please let us know if you are experiencing difficulties or losses, we are interested and may be able to help. Occasionally, when dealing with live plant material, situations beyond our control arise causing us to be unable to fulfill parts of your order as as expected. If this occurs, we will contact you and offer you a choice between substitution, back order or refund.
