Description: Showy floral spikes dangle from one side of the flower spike and grow to about 30" tall and are an eye-catching reddish brown. This grass can be a sod-forming grass in areas with good moisture and little competition. The leaf blades of Bouteloua curl up as they dry in the fall, creating a very attractive texture on the landscape.

Found in Nature: Dry prairies, gravely sites, open wooded area.

Distribution: Idaho, Montana to New Mexico
