Description: Shooting Star is so named as it appears to be a star hurling through space with its points bending back. Saline Shooting Star likes moist and sunny spaces and dislikes extreme heat; it can suffer from heat wilt if planted in a hot location. Plant this wildflower with an eastern exposure in a moist sunny spot.

Found in Nature: Sunny moist to wet meadows and ditches.

Distribution: Prairies to Alpine

Notes: Latin name recently changed from Dodecatheon pulchellum

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
