Description: The bright sunny blooms of this native cactus are fantastic and arrive in early summer on top of stems viciously covered with fine spikes. It likes sandy soils and works great in dry sunny beds. Try it under the eaves next to the house where it’s dry but gets lots of sun and reflected heat. This cactus can be used to create a barrier against unwanted foot traffic that’s guaranteed to divert most four-legged creatures.

Found in Nature: Sunny hillsides and dry prairie meadows.

Distribution: Prairies

Notes: Available as potted stock for pick-up customers.

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
