Description: The shocking large flower heads of this compact wildflower can be two inches across. Its low growth habit and rough foliage speak of its tolerance for heat and wind. This is a mountain wildflower so in the Chinook Zone be sure to plant it where there is snow cover all winter and hot sun in the summer. This is a short-lived plant that lives for 2 or 3 seasons; for best results allow it to go to seed and press some into the soil around the existing plant where it can germinate and replace the original.

Found in Nature: Dry rocky hills, sunny slopes and gravelly sites at higher elevations.

Distribution: Montane to Alpine

Notes: Available as larger potted stock - pick up only.

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
