Smooth Camas
Zigadenus elegans |
Description: This plant is elegant, as its Latin name implies, with its crisp white blooms and long graceful leaves. It makes a showy addition to any garden but comes with a warning label regarding its toxicity. Like many plants Camas are poisonous but because of their resemblance to an onion they might be more of a concern. Zigadenus venenosus, Death Camas, most resemble an onion in size and form, hence its ominous name.
Found in Nature: Moist ditches, meadows and well drained slopes.
