Alpine Pussytoes
Antennaria alpina

Alpine Pussytoes in bloom

Description: The mat forming habit with silvery/green wooly foliage is what gives this plant its impact in the landscape and it retains its color and form year round. Creamy white clusters of flowers sit atop a slender stalk and remind one of the pads of a cats paw, hence its name. This plant is tough and can be used on grassy pathways, in between paving stones and in rockeries. Consider using the mat forming Pussytoes as an alternative form of weed control by letting it act as a ground cover in areas where plants are unwanted but always grow back; examples of this include back alleys, by the garbage can or gravel filled storage areas.
