Tall Larkspur
Delphinium glaucum |
Description: Tall stalks of deep blue/purple blooms in July and August are a showy addition to wooded areas and moist meadows. Their shear size makes them majestic and they look amazing growing next to Cow Parsnip in moist tall grass meadows. These plants are poisonous for a short time as the flowers mature and begin to set seed. They could put grazing animals at risk during this period and should not be planted in areas were they might, now or in the future, create a problem for livestock in your area. The seeds are heavy though and do not travel far from the mother plant, so plant it but with forethought and consideration.
Found in Nature: Woodlands, moist meadows, creek beds and wet shaded sites.
